Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AS degree.


The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Science degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

This Transfer Advising Guide provides 71 college-level hours, of which 60 will transfer and apply, as EDUC 1300, 3 SCH of Additional Communication (90) Core, 3 SCH of Additional LPC (90) Core, 1 SCH of the following: MATH 1442, CHEM 1405/CHEM 1105 or CHEM 1411/CHEM 1111 will transfer but will NOT be applicable towards the University of Texas Health San Antonio baccalaureate degree in Nursing.

Note: University of Texas Health San Antonio accepts a maximum of 66 hours towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees. 

Note: University of Texas Health San Antonio requires that all transfer courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

Note: Students MUST complete all required math and science courses by the application deadline.

Note: Applicants who do NOT hold a baccalaureate degree from a Texas public institution will need to complete 51 of the 60 semester hours of required prerequisite courses PRIOR to the application deadline: Fall - February 1st, Spring - August 1st.  Students will be required to submit a final Alamo Colleges transcript to the UT Health registrar if admitted to Nursing program. 

Note: For the Alamo Colleges District, this transfer advising guide is core complete, degree complete, and field of study complete.

Special Department Admissions Requirements at University of Texas Health San Antonio for Nursing


BSN Admission Criteria

Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Minimum 3.0 math/science GPA (based on required math and science courses only)
Minimum 65 cumulative score on the new TEAS Exam. Visit ATI for more information. Please note, the examination must be taken prior to the application deadline and may only be taken once per admission cycle. Admitted students who score below 70 on the reading portion of the TEAS examination will be required to participate in a reading intervention program sponsored through the School of Nursing Student Success Center.

ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE NEW ATI TEAS EXAMINATION.

  • Complete all required math and science courses by the application deadline.
  • Complete the required prerequisite courses. Applicants who do not hold a baccalaureate degree from a Texas public institution will need to complete 51 of the 60 semester hours of required prerequisite courses prior to the application deadline.
  • Submit an application via NursingCAS, the Centralized Application Service for Nursing Programs by 10:59pm on the day of the application deadline
  • Submit official transcript(s) from each post-secondary institution attended to NursingCAS by the application deadline
  • All official credit by examination score reports must be received by the UT Health San Antonio by the application deadline. The UT Health San Antonio school code is 6908.
  • International applicants are required to submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores prior to the application deadline. The UT Health San Antonio school code is 6908. International applicants who have attended a foreign university are also required to submit an official foreign credentialing evaluation from an approved Foreign Credentialing Service.
