Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AS degree


The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Science degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

Applicable Transfer Credit Hours


This Transfer Advising Guide provides 71 college-level hours, of which 64 will transfer and apply, as MATH 1314 and MATH 2412 will transfer, but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - San Antonio baccalaureate degree in Computer Science.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree.  Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Students may still take the following Texas A&M University - San Antonio degree required course:

  • MATH 2318 Linear Algebra  º will transfer as MATH 3340 [Course will NOT apply towards advanced hours requirement] (grade must be a “C” or better)

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio requires that “All sciences must be taken in the same subject”.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio requires, “a minimum average GPA of 2.25 must be maintained in all CISA or CSCI core and elective courses to remain in program. Applies to transfer courses also. In addition, Texas A&M University - San Antonio  “academic credits transferred as substitution courses must be completed within the previous five years of admission to A&M-SA”.

Note: For the Alamo Colleges District this transfer advising guide is degree complete but NOT core complete.

AS Approved Course Requirements

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.
