Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AA or AS degree


The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree.  The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

Semester I


Semester II


  • ENGL 1302 - Composition II will transfer as ENGL 1302 [Texas A&M University - San Antonio Communication (10) Core] (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select one course from the American History (60) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio American History (60) Core (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select an Elective will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Supporting Field  (See “Applicable Transfer Credit Hours” section for note regarding specific courses) (grade must be “C” or better)
  • ***  KINE 1338 - Concepts of Physical Fitness will transfer as EDKN 1338 [Texas A&M University - San Antonio Component Area Option (90) Core] (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • KINE 1308 - Intramurals and Officiating will transfer as EDKN 1308 (grade must be a “C” or better)

Semester III


  • Select one course from the American History (60) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio American History (60) Core (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select one course from the Language, Philosophy & Culture (40) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Language, Philosophy & Culture (40) Core

Semester IV


  • BIOL 2401 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I º will transfer as BIOL 2401 [Texas A&M University - San Antonio Life and Physical Sciences (30) Core] (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select one course from the Creative Arts (50) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Creative Arts (50) Core
  • Select one course from KINE 11XX will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Fitness Activity (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select an Elective will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Supporting Field  (See “Applicable Transfer Credit Hours” section for note regarding specific courses) (grade must be “C” or better)
  • Select either  GOVT 2305 - Federal Government or GOVT 2306 Texas Government  will transfer as GOVT 2305 or GOVT 2306 [Texas A&M University - San Antonio Government/Political Science (70) Core]

Semester V


Semester VI


  • KINE 1321 - Coaching I will transfer as EDKN 1305 (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select an Elective will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Supporting Field  (See “Applicable Transfer Credit Hours” section for note regarding specific courses) (grade must be “C” or better)

Applicable Transfer Credit Hours


This Transfer Advising Guide provides 66 college-level hours, of which 66 will transfer and apply towards the Texas A&M University - San Antonio baccalaureate degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education (Grades EC-12). 

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree.  Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Note: Supporting Field Electives - Any courses from any discipline (except EDUC) are acceptable, but all 9 SCH of “Supporting Field” Electives MUST be from the SAME discipline.

Note:  Texas A&M University - San Antonio ***Completion of this Degree Requires Admission to the Educator Preparation Program (EPP)***

Note: Based on student course selection, students may be eligible for an Associate of Science (AS) degree.

AS Approved Course Requirements

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.

Associate of Arts in Teaching


The AAT Degree Program Texas Teacher Certification targets individuals who have a desire to enter the field of education as a teacher, school administrator, counselor, or some aspect of child/adolescent development.  Students should check with the college department, the transfer center, or the university to which they plan to transfer for additional information.
