The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Science degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

Applicable Transfer Credit Hours


This Transfer Advising Guide provides 70 college-level hours, of which 63 will transfer and apply, as MATH 1314/MATH 1414 and 3 SCH of MATH 2412 will transfer, but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - San Antonio baccalaureate degree in Biology.

Note: ACD Math Faculty Highly Recommend MATH 1414 for all Pre-Calculus (STEM) Track Programs.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree.  Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

AS Approved Course Requirements

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.

Field of Study Curriculum for Biology

The Field of Study (FOS) curriculum for Biology is for students who are seeking a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a major in Biology, including all biology specializations.  The field of study curriculum has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
