Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AA or AS degree

This Transfer Advising Guide provides 69 college-level hours, of which 65 will transfer and apply as 1 SCH of EDUC 1300, 1 SCH of KINE 1338 and 2 SCH of KINE 1306 will transfer but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - Kingsville baccalaureate degree in Kinesiology (EC-12 Physical Education with Teacher Certification).

Note: Texas A&M University - Kingsville does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree.  Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Note: [Texas A&M University - Kingsville Supporting Course Field Electives] Any courses from a teacher certifiable area (except EDUC and KINE) are acceptable, but all 12 SCH of “Supporting Course Field” Electives MUST be from the SAME discipline.

Texas A&M University - Kingsville Transfer Merit Scholarship


Transfer Merit Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 to $4,000

Qualifications: Your completed admissions application allows you to be automatically considered for the Transfer Merit Scholarship. Transfer students are awarded based on the transfer GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Admitted applicants who are eligible for Transfer Merit Scholarships will be notified via e-mail and U.S. mail.

Priority date: January 15

AS Approved Course Requirements

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.

Associate of Arts in Teaching


The AAT Degree Program Texas Teacher Certification targets individuals who have a desire to enter the field of education as a teacher, school administrator, counselor, or some aspect of child/adolescent development.  Students should check with the college department, the transfer center, or the university to which they plan to transfer for additional information.
