Applicable Transfer Credit Hours

This Transfer Advising Guide provides 72 college-level hours, of which 72 will transfer and apply towards the Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi baccalaureate degree in Sociology.

Note: Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree.  Student must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi Transfer Scholarship Information

These scholarship opportunities are for all Incoming Transfer students.

2024-2025 Student Transfer Education Program (STEP) Scholarships

Apply Texas Admission applications will serve as scholarship applications for the STEP scholarship program. Application and all transcripts must be postmarked by March 1st to be considered for the priority deadline.  Applications can be considered until August 1st as funds are available.

Scholarships available to transfer students will be based upon transferred hours, transfer GPA, submission admission application through applytexas, and complete a FAFSA (annually by the deadline of March 1st).  The renewal of the scholarship will be based upon meeting the eligibility requirements.  For Spring or Summer Transfer Students, awards will be made based upon availability of funds.

Must complete a FAFSA annually. Priority will be given to those who complete the FAFSA by the priority due date of March 1^st.

• Must maintain the required GPA
• Must complete at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 12 semester credit hours each Fall and Spring semester and successfully complete 30 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi credit hours each academic year (fall, spring and summer) to be eligible for renewal.
• Summer awardees must complete 6 hours per summer semester.
• Have no break in enrollment or eligibility.
• Will be in effect for up to four consecutive semesters, fall and spring, toward the completion of the first undergraduate degree.

The Honors Program at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi offers scholarship opportunities to students. Those wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be admitted to the Honors Program and must submit the Honors Program Scholarship Application by the posted deadline. Athletic Scholarships

Students seeking athletic scholarships should send inquiries to the coach of their intended sport.

Students applying for additional scholarships are encouraged to submit a FAFSA each academic year.  Students who are unable to meet the enrollment requirements due to limits set by their academic program, graduation, course offerings, approved disability accommodations, or other circumstances beyond the student’s control may submit a Scholarship Enrollment Exception Form for consideration.

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi College of Liberal Arts: College Language Requirement

College of Liberal Arts Language Requirement

All students majoring in degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts, other than the BAS, the BFA in Art, and the BM in Music, are required to take 6 college-level hours of a second language at their proficiency level determined by an assessment test, if available at the College of Liberal Arts, or obtain credit by any of the alternative means described below. Language means a language in the traditional sense; i.e., a language with a culture, such as Spanish or French. American Sign Language is accepted. Language does not include artificial or computer languages.

One may satisfy this requirement in one of two ways:

• earning a CLEP, AP, or ACTFL test score equivalent to one year of language study at A&M-Corpus Christi;
• successfully completing two semesters of a single foreign language at the University.

If students decide to meet this requirement by taking two semesters in Spanish at this university, an assessment test must be taken prior to registering in order to enroll in the appropriate language course. Information about the Spanish Placement Test can be obtained from the College of Liberal Arts or by visiting its web site.

Foreign students who have successfully taken the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) may elect to choose English as their second language. English is considered to be the first language for all other students.

Texas Transfer Framework: Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) Information

Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) is a set of courses that fulfill lower-division (freshman and sophomore) requirements for a specific major/degree plan in addition to the core curriculum. FOSCs are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas.

The Fields of Study now part of Texas Direct.  What is Texas Direct? Texas Direct is the state’s effort to articulate seamless degree pathways between two- and four-year institutions.

Students who complete the Texas Core Curriculum and Field of Study at any public two-year institution automatically qualify to receive an associate degree - the Texas Direct Transfer Degree. They are also qualified to transfer their courses as a block applied directly to their selected major.
