Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AS degree


The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Science degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

  • §  MATH 2413 - Calculus I (AS Approved Course Requirement) will transfer as MATH 2413 [Texas A&M University - Kingsville Mathematics (20) Core] (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • Select one course from the American History (60) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - Kingsville American History (60) Core

This Transfer Advising Guide provides 72 college-level hours, of which 62 will transfer and apply as MATH 1414, MATH 2412, 1 SCH of EDUC 1300, and 1 SCH of BIOL 1406 will transfer but will NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University - Kingsville baccalaureate degree in Chemical Engineering.

Note: A maximum of 72 semester hours may be transferred from institutions that do not have engineering programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Advanced (3000- or 4000-level) engineering courses from four-year institutions that do not have ABET accredited programs may be applied toward degree requirements only if approved by the department chair and the dean.

Note: Texas A&M University - Kingsville requires a grade of “C” or better for any mathematics, science and engineering courses.

Students may still take the following Texas A&M University - Kingsville degree required courses:

  • MATH 2320 Differential Equations  (AS Approved Course Requirement) will transfer as MATH 3320 [Course will NOT apply towards advanced hours requirement] (grade must be a “C” or better)
  • § MATH 2415 Calculus III  (AS Approved Course Requirement) will transfer as MATH 3415 [Course will NOT apply towards advanced hours requirement] (grade must be a “C” or better)

Note: For the Alamo Colleges District this transfer advising guide is degree complete but is NOT core complete and is NOT field of study complete. 

Texas A&M University - Kingsville Transfer Excellence Scholarship


The Transfer Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students who transfer to Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) with at least a 3.0 transfer GPA. To receive this award, students must also have completed 15 or more semester credit hours from a regionally accredited institution and must enroll at TAMUK full-time.  This scholarship is renewable for students who maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 semester credit hours each year.
