Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AS degree

Applicable Transfer Credit Hours


This Transfer Advising Guide provides 73 college-level hours, of which 71 will transfer and apply as 1 SCH of EDUC 1300 and 1 SCH of MATH 1414 will transfer but NOT be applicable towards the Texas A&M University baccalaureate degree in Bioenvironmental Sciences.

Note: Texas A&M University does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Note: A minimum of one year of foreign language is required for all baccalaureate degree programs at Texas A&M. For many programs, this degree requirement can be satisfied by the satisfactory completion of two units of the same foreign language at the high school level or one year of the same language at the college level.

Note: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.75 and a minimum 2.75 GPA in Priority Coursework. Priority Coursework includes MATH 1324, MATH 1325, ECON 2301, ECON 2302 and AGRI 2317.

  • Competitive applicants will have all required coursework completed prior to the application deadline.
  • Applicants to the summer/fall term that are currently enrolled in missing coursework for transfer may be offered the chance to submit spring final grades. This is not a guarantee.
  • Summer coursework will not be considered for summer/fall applicants.
  • Fall coursework will not be considered for spring applicants.
  • Applicants to the spring term should have the required courses completed by the end of Summer II semester before applying

Note: ACD Math Faculty Highly Recommend MATH 1414 for all Pre-Calculus (STEM) Track Programs.

Texas A&M University (TAMU) Transfer Scholarships


University Scholarships

Texas A&M University (TAMU) offers a variety of Scholarship & Financial Aid offer scholarships for incoming transfer students. TAMU offers: Aggie Transfer Scholarship, College and Department Scholarships, Foundation Excellence Award and the Texas A&M University Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship. You may apply for university level scholarships through the ApplyTexas Transfer Admissions Application or the Coalition Application.

Aggie Transfer Scholarships

The Aggie Transfer Scholarship program recognizes outstanding students who will be transferring to Texas A&M University. The annual awards range from $500 to $3,000. Selection criteria for the Transfer Scholarship include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, major, and, in some instances, financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The colleges at Texas A&M University offer generous scholarships for incoming freshman, current students and transfer students. Scholarships are offered based on a variety of factors, including academic merit, financial need, choice of major, leadership activities and more. Application procedures and deadlines vary in each college.

Foundation Excellence Award Scholarships

The Foundation Excellence Award is open to entering freshman, currently-enrolled students at TAMU-College Station, and transfer students from under-represented groups, including minorities and students from economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. Recipients must attend Texas A&M in College Station and must be legal residents of the United States. Students’ academic qualifications, extracurricular activities and financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are considered in selection.

Transfer students can apply online using the ApplyTexas Application or the Coalition Application for Transfer Admissions.

Texas A&M University Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

Texas A&M University offers two levels of scholarships to highly qualified Texas community college Phi Theta Kappa transfer students. These scholarships are renewable for up to two years.

The TAMU Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarships recognize outstanding transfer students who will be attending Texas A&M University. Students must transfer directly from a Texas community college and have been actively involved with the Phi Theta Kappa chapter associated with their campus immediately prior to transfer to be considered. Students must complete at least 24 hours at their previous community college and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPR while at Texas A&M University. The scholarships range in value from $2,000 to $5,000 dollars annually and are renewable for up to two years. Selection criteria for the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, PTK involvement, academic major, and, in some instances, financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

AS Approved Course Requirements

The Associate of Science (AS) is designed to align closely with the first half of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.  Students should follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university selected.  The Transfer Advising Guides are developed in conjunction with the senior institution to which the student plans to transfer.

To be awarded the AS degree at one of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, students must have 9 hours of AS Approved Course Requirements not included in the 42 hours of Core Curriculum.  Please check with your advisor for assistance.

This Transfer Advising Guide represents Texas A&M University’s degree plan and is subject to change at the university’s discretion. It is intended for advising purposes only so students know exactly which courses they can take at any of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District and have the courses count towards degree requirements when they transfer to Texas A&M University.
