Applicable Transfer Credit Hours
This Transfer Advising Guide provides 65 college-level hours, of which 65 will transfer and apply towards the Texas Tech University baccalaureate degree in Sociology.
Note: Texas Tech University accepts a maximum of 80 college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Texas Transfer Framework: Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) Information
Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) is a set of courses that fulfill lower-division (freshman and sophomore) requirements for a specific major/degree plan in addition to the core curriculum. FOSCs are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas.
The Fields of Study are now part of Texas Direct. What is Texas Direct? Texas Direct is the state’s effort to articulate seamless degree pathways between two- and four-year institutions.
Students who complete the Texas Core Curriculum and Field of Study at any public two-year institution automatically qualify to receive an associate degree - the Texas Direct Transfer Degree. They are also qualified to transfer their courses as a block applied directly to their selected major.

Texas Transfer Field of Study Curriculum for Sociology

The Field of Study (FOS) curriculum for Sociology is for students who are seeking a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Sociology including all Sociology specializations. The field of study curriculum has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
The Sociology FOS applies to the approved CIP Code (numerical codes corresponding to specific disciplines or subdisciplines) for the Revised Field of Study:

Texas Tech University Undergraduate Degree Requirements
Alamo Colleges District developed each Transfer Advising Guide with the understanding to account for Texas Tech University Uniform Undergraduate Degree Requirements as well as Texas Tech University college-specific requirements, if applicable.
The Texas Tech University Uniform Undergraduate Degree Requirements apply to all Texas Tech undergraduates regardless of their major or college. The requirements have six components:

- Communication Literacy Requirement
Texas Tech University Uniform Undergraduate Degree Requirement for Foreign Language differs from the College of Arts & Sciences Foreign Language Requirement; please visit the Texas Tech University College of Arts & Sciences webpage to verify if your desired degree (BA or BS) is listed under College of Arts & Sciences AND if you have additional foreign language hours required.
The College of Arts & Sciences requires 1-2 credit hours of Personal Fitness and Wellness. However, students over age 25 are exempt. Any student who has served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces for a minimum of 90 days may receive credit for 2 semester hours in personal fitness and wellness. Application for this credit must be made in the first semester of attendance at Texas Tech University. Students participating in varsity athletics may enroll in the PFW course that corresponds to their varsity sport. A maximum of 1 credit hour per academic year per sport may be earned in this manner.
