Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AA degree
The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Arts degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.
Applicable Transfer Credit Hours
This Transfer Advising Guide provides 66 college-level hours, of which 66 will transfer and apply towards the UT San Antonio baccalaureate degree in Art.
Note: UT San Antonio accepts a maximum of 66 college-level hours in transfer towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Alamo Promise to UT San Antonio Bold Promise
Promise-to-Promise
AlamoPROMISE is a program that covers the full cost of tuition and required fees for new graduates from participating high schools seeking an academic certificate or associate degree at one of the five Alamo Colleges.
Promise to Promise allows eligible students to start at any of the five Alamo Colleges and then transfer to UT San Antonio to complete a four-year degree while having educational costs covered at both institutions.
The Promise-to-Promise program encourages Alamo Colleges students who meet certain eligibility criteria to transfer to UT San Antonio and have tuition and mandatory fees covered for up to four consecutive fall and spring semesters through the UT San Antonio Bold Promise program.
AlamoPROMISE to UT San Antonio Bold Promise
The AlamoPROMISE to UT San Antonio Bold Promise is a tuition promise program that aims to make college more accessible and affordable to AlamoPROMISE students who transfer to UT San Antonio and meet certain eligibility criteria. Qualifying students will have their tuition and mandatory fees covered 100% for four fall and spring semesters within a 2-year time period, as long as students maintain eligibility.
How does it work?
Students do not have to apply separately for this program. Bold Promise is automatically awarded to qualified Texas residents who meet the program qualifications. Tuition and mandatory fees are covered by scholarships, grants and tuition exemptions from federal, state and institutional funds.
** Students who meet all eligibility criteria will be covered by Bold Promise up to the available unmet financial need. For an explanation of unmet need please refer to our FAQs section**
Students will not see a fund called “Bold Promise” on their financial aid offer, but a combination of funding awarded that covers tuition and mandatory fees. Note: Bold Promise does not cover books, housing or meal plan. However, students will have other aid offered to help with these expenses.
How do I qualify?
Students must have successfully completed the AlamoPROMISE Program and meet the following qualifications:

Have a family income up to $100,000*

Submit a FAFSA/TASFA by May 1 (admitted for Fall) or November 1 (admitted for Spring)

Minimum GPA of 3.2 (at time of degree completion

Complete an Associate’s Degree and enroll at UT San Antonio the following fall or spring semester

Enroll at UT San Antonio full-time (12 hours or more) for fall or spring semester **immediately after graduation from Alamo Colleges
Note: Students in an online only program are ineligible for Bold Promise.
*Students must have financial need. Family income information will be determined from the FAFSA/TASFA.
**Students graduating in the spring or summer are eligible only for the fall term. Students graduating in the fall are only eligible for the spring term
Continuing Eligibility
To continue to receive the Bold Promise, students must meet the following eligibility qualifications.
- Submit a FAFSA or TASFA by priority deadline each year
- Maintain a 2.5 UT San Antonio GPA
- Enroll full-time (12 credit hours or more) each fall and spring semester to complete a minimum of 24 hours
- Remain in good academic standing

UT San Antonio Distinguished Transfer Scholarship
Fall and spring transfer applicants who are transferring at least 24 semester credit hours of academic coursework (dual credit and work in progress not included) at the time of admission will be given automatic consideration based on academic credit. This scholarship is valued up to $6,000 (1,500 each semester) for up to four consecutive semesters (not including summers) if renewal eligibility is maintained. The value is awarded on a competitive basis, while funding is still available.
Deadline to be considered for the Distinguished Transfer Scholarship:
- Fall transfers must be admitted by May 1
- Spring transfers must be admitted by October 15

Students pursuing this degree at UT San Antonio must successfully complete each of the Gateway Courses with a grade of “C” or better in no more than two attempts. A student who is unable to successfully complete these courses within two attempts, including dropping a course with a grade of “W” or taking an equivalent course at another institution (including any colleges of the Alamo Colleges District), will not be allowed to select this major at UT San Antonio.
