Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AA degree


The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Arts degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.

Semester I

  • Select one course from the Creative Arts (50) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Creative Arts (50) Core
  • Select one course from Single Foreign Language 1412  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Single Foreign Language
  • Select one course from the American History (60) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio American History (60) Core

Semester III

  • Select one course from Single Foreign Language 2312  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Single Foreign Language [Texas A&M University - San Antonio Component Option (90) Core]
  • Select one course from the Life and Physical Sciences (30) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Life and Physical Sciences (30) Core
  • Select one course from the Social and Behavioral Sciences (80) Core  will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Social and Behavioral Sciences (80) Core
  • Select 3 credit hours of Elective(s) will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Elective(s)

Semester VI

Associate’s Degree Completion


Upon completion of the semesters above, students can earn an Associate’s degree.  The title of the Transfer Advising Guide will tell you which degree (AA, AS or AAS) is earned.  The coursework below are additional degree required courses for the transfer university.  ALL coursework within this transfer advising guide will transfer and apply towards the transfer university degree unless specified in the Applicable Transfer Credit Hours section. 

Semester VII


  • Select 13 credit hours of Electives will transfer as Texas A&M University - San Antonio Electives [See Note in “Applicable Transfer Credit Hours” section]

Applicable Transfer Credit Hours


This Transfer Advising Guide provides 75 college-level hours, of which 75 will transfer and apply, towards the Texas A&M University - San Antonio baccalaureate degree in English.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio does not have a maximum number of college-level transfer hours accepted towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio prefers the Foreign Language courses to be in the same language, maximum of 2 languages. Conversational courses are not acceptable for this requirement.

Note: Texas A&M University - San Antonio allows an option of Minor or Electives, for this Transfer Advising Guide English is built without a Minor.

Note: Based on student course selection, students may be eligible for an Associate of Science (AS) degree in addition to the Associate of Arts (AA) degree if 9 credit hours of Electives are AS Approved Course Requirements.  Students should consult with their Certified Advisor for graduation requirements.

The Alamo Colleges District Advising
