Lower Division Requirements at the Alamo Colleges District for an AA degree
The courses in this section meet the requirements for an Associate of Arts degree. The Graduation section in any catalog of the colleges in the Alamo Colleges District lists additional Degree/Certificate Requirements.
Applicable Transfer Credit Hours
This Transfer Advising Guide provides 68 college-level hours, of which 65 will transfer and apply as EDUC 1300 will transfer but will NOT be applicable towards the Sam Houston State University baccalaureate degree in Animation.
Note: Sam Houston State University accepts a maximum of 66 college-level hours in transfer towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of advanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.
Note: Sam Houston State University recommends that students take and complete 15-16 SCH per semester.
Note: Sam Houston State University requires that all students MUST complete ARTS 1311 and ARTS 1312 with ACD to receive credit for SHSU ARTS 1313 and ARTS 1314 prior to transferring.
Note: Sam Houston State University requires an Art Portfolio Application to be submitted to the department to be accepted to the BFA in Animation program. Transfer students are required to include art work from the art classes they take at Alamo College District. Students not passing the portfolio review will be required to select another major and will not be able to enroll in Arts courses at SHSU. Sam Houston State University BFA Requirements
Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in ARTS courses to graduate with a BFA.
The Art Portfolio Application is the Department of Art’s process of review and evaluation before admitting students into any of the department’s programs.
The semester after completion of the Art Foundation courses, students who wish to pursue a BFA in Graphic Design, Studio Art, Animation, or Photography must participate in the BFA Review.
